Chapter 23 Li Wei's Unprofessionalism
Chapter 23 Li Wei's Unprofessionalism
"Kill them all? Simple and straightforward, but it takes too long. I want it now."
"Making them submit? That's too much trouble. It's much more efficient to just kill them all."
"Or absorb them? No, that's not a good option. I hate management, I just want to have fun."
Early in the morning, with dark circles under his eyes, Li Wei muttered words that made Wesker's heart pound.
Wesker nervously wiped his hands on his apron and carefully handed Levi a hot breakfast of toast, boiled eggs, and fried bacon.
Then I asked tentatively.
"Had another nightmare?"
"No, it's a dream come true. I'm going to get that megaphone toy, and it's the version with unlimited battery life! It's so wonderful and futuristic, isn't it?"
Seeing Li Wei's serious and focused expression, Wesker breathed a sigh of relief.
Good, Li Wei is fine, he's just having his usual bouts of madness.
So, having already eaten breakfast, he simply untied his apron, revealing his suit and tie underneath.
"Today I'm preparing to take over a bar for the 'Lee Wei Gang' as their 'base.' Although it's a gang, we can't rely entirely on 'illegal income.' The risk is secondary; the important thing is that the money is coming in too slowly."
Out of respect, Wesker considered it for a moment and decided to ask Levi anyway.
Do you have any suggestions?
But with his mind completely occupied by the megaphone toy (unlimited battery life version), Levi had neither the mood nor the patience to consider Wesker's suggestion.
Therefore, his answer was very simple.
"what ever."
In any case, Li Wei never considered the "Li Wei Gang" as a business from the beginning.
Wesker, with a "I knew it" expression on his face, said nothing more and went straight out the door.
Li Wei, like a robot on an assembly line, filled his stomach through repetitive actions, then lay on the sofa, turned on the TV, selected a war movie, and continued to ponder his problems.
The explosions and screams did not disturb Li Wei; on the contrary, they made his mind more active.
But even after the movie ends, when the male protagonist survives the battlefield and returns home to get married, and the credits begin to roll to a soothing accompaniment, Levi still hasn't come up with an "idea" that satisfies him.
After the movie finishes playing, it automatically switches to the morning news.
The news broadcast reported that the rapidly declining "Viper Gang" had been swallowed up by the rising "Crocodile Gang," and the footage showed members of the two gangs fighting fiercely in the street.
Gunshots and screams continued, so Li Wei didn't change the channel, but continued to think with the new "background music".
Then, a voice that sounded slightly familiar suddenly came out.
"In the past four hours, three gang-related violent incidents have occurred in Miami, resulting in six deaths and 13 injuries. These include the large-scale attack by the Alligator Gang on former Viper Gang territory early this morning."
Li Wei suddenly turned his head and saw Danielle, with her hair now restored to its golden color, looking exhausted and battered, representing frontline police officers as she was being interviewed by the media at the scene.
"These violent incidents have seriously threatened the lives of citizens. The police are making every effort to track down those involved and hope that the public will avoid going out late at night and getting involved in any conflicts in the coming days."
"In fact, in the past four hours, police have advised 21 people not to hold up their phones and try to record or enter the scene of the firefight to livestream it online."
"The police hereby pledge to do their utmost to crack down on rival gangs and control their actions that endanger public safety."
Seeing Danielle's worried expression, almost to the point of pulling her hair, Levi laughed.
Because he had come up with a brilliant idea... at least, he considered it a rather "brilliant" idea.
Li Wei immediately got up from the sofa and began frantically searching.
Soon, he found what he was looking for under the corner of the restaurant table—the gang information Wesker had collected.
Judging from the fact that Wesker used this thing to prop up the table legs, this old guy is probably preparing to completely retire from the "double-crossing" business.
But this thing is now proving unexpectedly useful to Li Wei.
Li Wei found paper and pen and quickly copied down the information he needed.
The story revolves around 12 gangs, conflicts between their leaders and key members, different factions, and the ways in which relevant individuals communicate.
Li Wei applied the same habits and enthusiasm he had as a "certified public accountant" before his time travel, categorizing and cross-referencing this information as if he were doing bookkeeping or auditing.
Only when the sky turned golden did he condense all the "key control points" from half a notebook onto a single sheet of paper.
After a busy day, Li Wei stretched, picked up the phone, and dialed the first number on the paper.
After a brief busy signal, a wary voice quickly came from the other end.
"Who?"
"Someone who can help you get out of your current predicament."
Li Wei gave a deliberately cryptic answer.
The other party hung up the phone immediately.
Li Wei, however, was not in a hurry at all. Instead, he put his phone on the dining table, crossed his arms, and waited with a smile.
One minute later, the phone rang.
The caller ID showed an "unknown number," but it was exactly the same number that Li Wei had dialed earlier.
This time, it was Li Wei's turn not to answer the phone. He simply pressed the red "hang up" button and then crossed his arms and continued to wait.
He enjoys the process of teasing others.
This time, less than two seconds later, Li Wei's phone rang again.
Moreover, the sound was exceptionally urgent and angry.
Li Wei then picked up his phone, pressed the answer button, and calmly held it to his ear.
"You bastard! You dare to play me! Do you know who I am?!"
"Ian Brooke, the second-in-command of the Viper Gang. But the Viper Gang is being suffocated by the Crocodile Gang these days, your life must be pretty bad, right?"
Li Wei's tone was full of mockery.
"Where did you get this information from, you bastard!"
"Television news."
Levi didn't mind Ian's rudeness because he was happy.
"..."
The other person remained silent for almost a minute, but finally spoke up.
"Tell me, you bastard, what can you give me, and what do you want to take from me?"
It seems that Ian is having a really bad time right now; a random stranger calling him has become his lifeline.
"You can contact the third-in-command of the Crocodile Gang when you have some free time. I'm sure he'd be happy to use you to take down the gang's leader. Then, do I need to tell you the rest?"
Li Wei's words sounded condescending, but in reality, he truly didn't know what to do next.
Before time travel, I was a "Certified Public Accountant" busy "calculating" every day; after time travel, I'm a Marine Corps member busy fighting "terrorists" every day.
He didn't know much about the "gang" industry.
But Levi believed that Ian would figure out a way on his own.
This is called entrusting professional matters to professionals.
Sure enough, after a brief silence, Ian asked a question directly.
What do you want?
"Within three days, transfer $10 to the 'Gallard Medical Relief Fund,' clearly stating that it is a 'social donation.' I will handle the rest."
"..."
The other party was silent for a moment, but this time the reply was much faster.
"Okay, I understand. I'll wait for you to contact me again."
Ian had clearly misunderstood something, but Levi didn't care. He hung up the phone and dialed a second number.
"Damn it! I'm super busy right now! I don't care who you are! But you better give me a good reason! Otherwise, your skin will be hanging on the Panoramic Building!"
The other person was very impolite, but hearing the word "darling" in the background, Li Wei glanced at the darkening sky and decided not to argue with them.
I realized that my call was made at an inopportune time and was rather impolite.
"Well, Mr. Miles Thorne, I regret to inform you that your third-in-command seems to have gotten involved with Ian Brooke of the Viper Gang. I think you understand the rest."
"What the hell are you doing...?"
Li Wei hung up the phone again.
This time, however, he didn't make the third phone number on the paper. Instead, he logged onto the internet with his phone, searched for the Miami Police Department's public hotline, and dialed it.
