Chapter 1076: Cheng Jing's Worries
Chapter 1076: Cheng Jing's Worries
The three of them started chatting, one after another.
Mao Wa recounted his experiences on his journey to Antarctica, while the brothers Yavin and Luca discussed their astronomical knowledge with Mao Wa.
Just as the three were having a pleasant conversation, Migo called.
"Brother, where are you?"
Mao Wa glanced at the Singaporean twins and said, "I'm at the pavilion up the mountain. Have you finished your call?"
It's like bringing up a sore spot; Maowa's words made Miguo's face turn red.
"elder brother"
Mao Wa asked on the phone, "Are you coming or not?"
"Wait, I'll be there soon!"
After hanging up the phone, Maowa smiled at the twin brothers: "My sister!"
Luca asked with a smile, "It's Sister Migo, right?"
Maowa nodded: "Yes!"
A few minutes later, Migo appeared outside the pavilion, looking like she had run all the way there, her face flushed and panting heavily.
When she saw the two brothers, Yavin and Luca, she was taken aback. She hadn't expected her brother to be with these two brothers.
However, she reacted quickly: "Hello!"
"Hello, Sister Migo!"
It was a rare opportunity to meet these twin brothers, so Migo asked them curiously, "How old are you this year?"
Luca replied, "Sixteen years old."
"So you're in high school now, right?"
Yawen then explained: "Singapore is a bit different from your place. There is no such thing as a high school. It is either a four-year secondary school or a university preparatory course. After graduating from the preparatory course for two or three years or after graduating from secondary school, you take the university entrance exam, which is similar to your university entrance exam, namely the GCE A-level exam. Luca and I are currently in the first year of the preparatory course."
Although Yawen had explained it in detail, Migo, who was unfamiliar with the Singaporean system for advancing to higher education, still didn't quite understand. She didn't know much else, but she felt it was much more complicated and divided into many sub-systems than the mainland's college entrance examination.
She replied, seemingly understanding but not quite, "I see!"
Strangely enough, this garden is usually only lively on holidays, and there are very few people visiting this pavilion in the huge garden. But today, one person after another is heading towards this pavilion.
The sisters Tang Ruixuan and Huo Xinyuan also arrived. As they walked and chatted, they unintentionally stumbled upon this pavilion located on the earthen hill.
"Sister Xuanxuan, Sister Liujin!" Miguo and Maowa greeted them.
Seeing the four of them together, Tang Ruixuan and Huo Xinyuan were surprised: "You're all here?"
Yawen and Luca were most familiar with the sisters. They had interacted with them the most when they came to China before, so they naturally greeted them.
"Eldest sister, second sister."
Seeing that the group was having a very pleasant conversation, the two men joined in, and the six of them sat in the pavilion chatting.
Luca asked Huo Xinyuan curiously, "Second sister, I heard you went to serve in the military. Is it tough?"
Huo Xinyuan didn't want to discuss this topic and replied evasively, "It's alright!" Then she asked in return, "According to Singaporean law, you two have to serve in the military, right? How many years of service are required there?"
Luca nodded: "Yes, we have to serve two years of military service when we turn eighteen. That will be right after we take the GCE A-level exams, so we'll have to wait until we finish our military service before we go to university."
Migo couldn't understand why the two brothers would choose to join the army: "Why did you two want to join the army?"
Yawen explained, "This is a Singapore law requirement that all eligible citizens or permanent residents who are 18 years of age or older must serve 24 months, or two years, of military service."
Luca added, "Furthermore, after retirement, one must join the reserves and return to camp for training once a year for a total of ten years."
Now everyone understood; it turned out to be mandatory military service!
No wonder Luca was curious about Huo Xinyuan's life in the military.
However, the young soldier Huo Xinyuan has now received training in military confidentiality regulations, and she will not tell her two foreign cousins a single word about what happens in the military.
The six of them chatted in the pavilion on the hill for more than an hour until Cheng Jing called to ask where Miguoren had gone. Only then did the six of them leave the pavilion and return to Yunyinju.
There are still many people coming and going here, all coming to pay their respects to the old lady.
"Migo!"
Migo looked over at the sound and saw her mother standing at the door of the west wing, waving at her.
"Mom, you were looking for me?"
Cheng Jing glanced at her daughter and asked, "Where did you run off to?"
"I sat with my brother and the others in the pavilion on the mountain for a while."
Cheng Jing glanced at Mao Wa, Tang Ruixuan, Huo Xinyuan, and the twin brothers sitting outside the mourning hall, and nodded.
Then she said, "Come in with me for a moment."
Miguo knew her mother had something to say to her, so she followed her into the west wing.
Cheng Jing frowned and asked, "What's your boyfriend's name again?"
Seeing her mother's expression, Miguo knew something was wrong, but she kept her face calm: "Ji Feng, Mom, didn't you already ask me last time?"
Cheng Jing stared at her daughter for a few moments, making Mi Guo feel a little uneasy.
After a long pause, Cheng Jing spoke up: "I've thought about this for a long time, and I still need to make things clear with you. You're only a sophomore in college, just turned twenty. Isn't it too early to be dating at this age?"
Hearing this, Migo couldn't help but retort, "Mom, I'm not the only one in our school who's dating; lots of people are."
Unexpectedly, Cheng Jing interrupted her directly: "Others are others, and you are you. Your priority now is to do well in your studies. It's not too late to date after graduation. If you don't date then, I'll urge you to. Do things appropriate for your age. You should focus on your studies now, and when you start working, you can date while working. It won't interfere with anything."
Migo pursed her lips and remained silent.
Seeing Mi Guo's expression, Cheng Jing knew she wouldn't listen. She knew her daughter's temperament best, but she still continued, "Let me make it clear, I'm not against you dating, but I think now is not the right time. Four years of university will fly by. No matter how well you date now, how many of you will end up together after graduation?"
Migo muttered defiantly, "What if we actually make it to the end?"
Cheng Jing was speechless, and couldn't help but get a little angry: "What if? Are you planning to gamble your own happiness on this 'what if'?"
The mother and daughter stood frozen in place, the atmosphere heavy and somber.
At this moment, Huang Erhe came over from the mourning hall. He came to get a glass of water. He originally wanted Cheng Jing to get him a glass of water, but he didn't see her for a long time, so he had to come himself.
Upon entering the west wing and seeing this scene, he asked, "What happened?"
Cheng Jing didn't speak, and neither did Mi Guo.
Huang Erhe glanced at the mother and daughter and roughly guessed the reason. He frowned and said, "We can talk about it when we get back. It's too busy here."
Suppressing her dissatisfaction, Cheng Jing said to Mi Guo, "You go out first, we'll talk about this later."
