Chapter 424: Ch
Chapter 424: Ch
"Commander Alex has already given me his assurance multiple times. Along with that, he has also shown me the detailed plans he has prepared to deal with the incoming fleets from the Alchemy Star Alliance.
And I have to say, I’m quite impressed with the plan he formulated as well. It shouldn’t take longer than twenty-five minutes to half an hour to completely deal with those attackers."
"Oh?" Kallus became interested upon hearing that. "Do tell me some details."
The Red Empress nodded. "It’s like this—"
And quietly, she began explaining the details of the operation that the Sixth Defense Zone would conduct on the day of the Founding Ceremony.
Meanwhile, somewhere thousands upon thousands of light-years away from the Sol Region, within the Noon Star System...
Inside a pirate colony spaceport stood a crowded restaurant filled with pirates, drunkards, shouting voices, and occasional fights breaking out here and there.
Yet within one of the restaurant’s VIP rooms, four people, followed by another aged figure, could be seen sitting opposite one another in silence.
"What interest do you all have in this that you are willing to provide us support like this?
We have been in talks for quite a while now, and this question has remained on my mind the entire time. Now that we are about to reach the signing phase, I can’t help but bring it up."
The handsome man dressed in a dark suit, seated at the main seat on the opposing side, asked the man before him calmly.
"Duke Shadow, have you ever heard the saying, the enemy of an enemy is a friend?" The handsome man dressed in white asked with a faint smile.
"Enemy of an enemy...? Sure, I have heard that saying," the man known as Duke Shadow replied before narrowing his eyes slightly. "But let me ask directly. Could it be related to the White Holy Angel Empire?"
"Would it?" he asked carefully.
"Of course it is," the man admitted without even the slightest hesitation.
"Can you tell me why, Lord David?" shadow asked again.
"This isn’t really something worth hiding, Lord Shadow, so I can tell you." David leaned slightly forward as flames of anger seemed to burn deep within his eyes.
"It’s because those white-winged people, preaching themselves to be saintly beings, dare to covet things that were never theirs to begin with.
And simply because of that alone, we already have every reason to pursue them until their very end."
"So the time has come for people to realize as well who and what these people truly are, far from the image others have of them.
Anyway, as you can see, we are currently at the cusp of reaching a deal that will not only help both our powers deal with these people, but at the same time also advance our own agendas while benefiting both parties and giving each side some necessary leeway."
David calmly continued speaking.
"Your Dark Legions need a formidable yet trustworthy partner, one capable of immediately lowering your burden of arms production and relieving you all of that pressure.
And not only that, with our talent programs, the brilliant young people of your grand race could come to our academies to learn and eventually lead your state toward becoming truly independent in the shortest time possible.
That way, something like what happened last time, where you all were chased out from your homes and forced to live as..."
David paused briefly before shaking his head. "I would rather not speak about the past. There is no need to bring it up now that a new age is about to begin."
"While these are your benefits, our benefits are equally good as well."
"And that is resources," David pointed out calmly. "Resources that we need, and resources that you possess and will soon possess in even greater abundance."
"This is the foundation of our deal, Lord Shadow. A relationship in which both sides have something to gain and something to rely upon from each other."
"Hmmm..."
Hearing this, Lord Shadow did not react immediately.
Instead, he silently processed everything while recalling the events that had taken place millions of years ago.
To be exact... two million years ago.
And what had happened back then had taught them one important lesson:
Never become fully dependent on anyone, especially in matters tied directly to your own safety.
And weapons were exactly that.
Not only were they tools of mass destruction, but they were also the very foundation of the safety and survival of their people.
And what the Void Humans were proposing directly addressed that weakness.
Even though the Dark Angel race themselves were capable of producing powerful technologies and weapons, they still fell short in the end.
After all, the Dark Angel race was a race born for war. They did not specialize in the fields of technology and creation. Though they could learn and adapt extremely well, they lacked the true potential to innovate groundbreaking things on their own.
The reason they had survived for so long was because of the rune mastery their race possessed, allowing them to enchant their ships and systems so they could stand on equal footing with their opponents and continue surviving.
But that reliance carried its own shortcomings.
And Lord Shadow understood those shortcomings very well.
For thousands upon thousands of years, the White Holy Angel Empire had maintained the lead in power while continuously suppressing them.
Even now, though the Dark Legions had severely damaged the White Holy Angel Empire and captured twenty-four star systems from their federation, much of that success was due to the pressure the Dark Sun Empire had placed on the White Holy Angel Empire’s major border regions.
That pressure had forced the White Holy Angel Empire to station their strongest fleets and main legions elsewhere.
Meaning the Dark Legions had mostly been fighting reserve forces that were far weaker than the true main legions of the White Holy Angel Empire.
And it was only a matter of time before their true power began to move once they finished dealing with their internal matters, something Lord Shadow knew would not take long considering the methods of those pieces of shit.
And because of that, it became even more important that they strike a deal with the Void Humans and secure the delivery of those weapons first.
Only then could they stabilize and protect the regions they had captured against all odds.
At the same time, they would also be able to send talented individuals to learn and eventually create these important assets themselves, something that was both crucial and necessary for their future survival.
Thinking of all this, Lord Shadow finally nodded.
"It is as you said, Lord David. This shall become the foundation of the partnership between our two powers."
"Let us not wait any longer and sign the deal."
Having already made up his mind, and knowing this was also the wish of the Dark Lord himself, he spoke decisively.
David smiled upon hearing that.
"Then let me wish for a long and prosperous partnership between our two peoples and powers."
As he spoke, he gestured toward one of his subordinates, who quickly brought forward the documents containing all the clearly written conditions of their partnership before handing them over to Lord Shadow for review.
Lord Shadow accepted the documents and, together with his subordinates, carefully reviewed them without hesitation, as the matter was far too important.
After a few moments, Lord Shadow finished reviewing the agreement and looked toward David before speaking.
"Everything is fine, Lord David. We can sign it immediately and begin implementing it soon afterward.
But I do hope that your side will move quickly as well, Lord David. You know our situation. We cannot tell when things might suddenly go south..."
Hearing this, David smiled mysteriously. "Don’t worry about that, Lord Shadow. After we sign the agreement of our partnership..."
"I have a big surprise prepared for you."
Hearing this, a flicker of interest passed through Lord Shadow’s eyes, and with his interest fully piqued, he hurriedly said,
"Then what is there to hesitate for, Lord David? Let us do this." Saying that, he quickly pulled out a pen and, using his mana, signed the papers.
Afterward, he took out a luxurious black jade-like box and opened it before pulling out a beautiful stamp surrounded by an overwhelming aura of destiny.
Something David was very familiar with.
It was the stamp that quite literally represented the manifestation of the Dark Legions and the destiny of their people.
Using that stamp, Lord Shadow stamped the document.
The papers suddenly lit up with a golden luster, linking the contract itself with the destiny of the Dark Legions.
After doing this, Lord Shadow passed the papers toward David.
Nodding his head, David did the same.
After signing, he stamped the documents with the seal of the Void Fleet.
The papers glowed once again before rapidly fragmenting into countless golden particles and disappearing entirely.
