Chapter 396 - 231: Feared by All
"Together?"
Su Chen was surprised. ’This Wei Zhenghong... seems to really enjoy getting involved in things.’
"What’s wrong?" Seeing Su Chen’s silence, Wei Zhenghong asked bluntly, "Something you can’t talk about?"
’Something I can’t talk about...’ Su Chen was speechless. He thought about this chosen Morning Star Tier’s title—Sea Tyrant World-Suppressing Great Demon. ’It really fits him. Blunt and boorish.’
He wasn’t in a hurry to get ranked anyway; it was just an excuse to avoid drinking. His original plan was to get to work on the new profession he had just obtained.
But since Wei Zhenghong had already put it this way, he didn’t really mind. It just meant another trip out.
"It’s nothing I can’t talk about. Let’s go together, then," Su Chen said with a smile as he stood up.
Wei Zhenghong stood up as well. When he saw Su Chen walking toward the docking port, his expression froze for a moment before he said with a helpless realization:
"Right, I forgot. This Floating Island only has basic facilities. You just became its owner, so you haven’t built a challenge chamber on it. We’ll have to go out."
"Oh?" Su Chen stopped, looking surprised. "You can build a challenge center on the island?"
"A challenge chamber, not a challenge center," Wei Zhenghong corrected. "There’s a slight difference in function, but they’re both used for challenging the rankings. After all, there are a lot of people in the Holy Hall. If there were only one challenge center, it wouldn’t be able to meet the demand."
"You must have other things to do, right? Otherwise, how about you ask me to go to the challenge center with you another day?"
Wei Zhenghong said, his habitual line of thinking making him assume Su Chen already had a challenge chamber here.
And since Su Chen had just returned from outside without going to the challenge center, it proved he had other things to attend to. His own arrival had probably disrupted Su Chen’s plans.
"It’s nothing urgent. Let’s go," Su Chen said, waving his hand. He muttered to himself, ’I’d have to ask you again some other day anyway. It would seem rude not to. Might as well get it over with today.’
Seeing this, Wei Zhenghong didn’t press the issue and simply followed. Su Chen then asked, "What are the requirements for building a challenge chamber?"
Wei Zhenghong explained, "It’s mainly about the area and the cost. Different challenge chambers can support different tiers of combat. The higher the specs, the more expensive it is. Plus, there are strict inspection measures to prevent cheating during challenges."
"Oh..." Su Chen glanced at him and said helplessly, "Looks like I’ll have to save up for a while."
"Haha..." Wei Zhenghong laughed heartily. "Why save? I’ll gift you one with the highest specs later."
"I couldn’t accept that," Su Chen hesitated.
Wei Zhenghong didn’t mind. "Consider it my apology for disturbing you."
"Alright, thank you, Brother Wei." Su Chen finally accepted.
As they spoke, the two arrived at the docking port. Wei Zhenghong gestured to Su Chen. "Come on, let’s take my Ba Yun."
"Ba... Yun..." Su Chen’s eyes twitched. Looking at the oversized, gold-painted Flying Device, he noticed that its sheen wasn’t simple paint. It was composed of countless overlapping, scale-like reflective flakes.
From different angles, the light would shift its color in a gradient from amber to Red Gold. Its streamlined exterior and sharp, distinct angles made it look like a spearhead, making it extremely eye-catching.
A proud look appeared in Wei Zhenghong’s eyes. "This is a special custom job. I had to pester my master for ages before he agreed. Around this entire Copper Heart area, mine is the only one like it."
"Is that so?" Su Chen was speechless inside. He glanced at the smug-looking Wei Zhenghong and remarked, "It certainly is unique. Very domineering."
The interior was spacious, with a small table in the middle large enough for two people to sit facing each other.
After Wei Zhenghong sat down, his upper body was half a head taller than Su Chen’s. He then took a bottle of red liquor and a chilled glass from a liquor cabinet inside the Flying Device.
The liquid he poured into the glass was quite viscous, creating ripples as it settled. It was crimson like blood, with a fiery, pungent aroma. It was clearly a strong, high-quality spirit.
"No, thanks... no, thanks..." Seeing that Wei Zhenghong was about to ask him again, Su Chen quickly refused.
"Do you think I’m too high-profile?" Wei Zhenghong took a big GULP, GULP. A flash of Scarlet crossed his face before fading as he savored the aftertaste with a sigh. Only then did he ask the question.
The Ba Yun had already drifted out of the docking port.
Su Chen muttered to himself, ’A mouthful like that would probably knock me out on the spot.’ At the same time, he gave a conventional reply: "It’s only right."
"A Star Seed should be high-profile!" Wei Zhenghong slammed his glass down on the table. It was hard to tell what the glass was made of, as it didn’t even shatter.
He said in a booming voice, "If you act too gently, even if some people greet you with a smile, they’ll likely look down on you in their hearts without even realizing it."
"That condescension can easily turn into contempt. You have to make them fear you, respect you. When they mention you behind your back, they should fear you like the plague."
Wei Zhenghong took several more swigs. "Don’t you go learning from that Shen Yi’an fellow. He’s so mild-mannered, he’s like a woman. So what if he has a good relationship with all those guys? When trouble comes, you won’t see many of them jumping out to speak for him."
This was advice from Wei Zhenghong’s own experience. After listening, Su Chen simply said, "I’ll take that to heart."
He figured that Wei Zhenghong’s way of doing things had a lot to do with the fact that he was nearly killed by Qin Yun before.
Don’t tell others to be good if you haven’t experienced their suffering. He wouldn’t comment on it any further.
"However..." Wei Zhenghong’s tone shifted. Perhaps feeling he had come across as too aggressive, he added, "You still have to follow the Sect’s rules. There’s no shortage of Star Seeds who have been expelled from the Sect."
Su Chen naturally understood. Although a Star Seed’s status was prestigious, the fundamental reason the Sect cultivated them was so they could become a core power that would bring benefits to the Sect.
If a Star Seed acted unscrupulously and arrogantly, or even damaged the Sect’s interests before they had fully matured, they would likely turn out to be an ungrateful bastard. When the time came for expulsion, the Sect would not hesitate.
