Chapter 182: Warning
Chapter 182: Warning
Auric politely greeted Dexter and the others, thanking him for all the help he had provided with the store.
Dexter, of course, gave the best hospitality he could offer. He knew Auric’s value better than most people.
It was only a matter of time before Auric became an important figure.
It was true that the unique element might cause him some trouble, but he wondered how much trouble it would cause him. With Auric’s skill, he believed Auric could actually evolve a few times simply because he should be able to know the material he needed for evolution.
Only when he reached a high enough rank would he start having trouble finding the perfect material. Before that, he didn’t have to worry too much.
This investment would be worth a lot in the future. If Auric ended up surpassing his limit, their Aheron family had been his friends all this time. Auric would definitely look at them favorably.
Axel was much purer than his grandfather, considering Axel didn’t just consider him an asset but also a friend. But he was bound to be a successor, so there was no telling whether Axel would change in the future or not.
Nevertheless, there was no reason not to accept their hospitality.
The next day, Auric began to receive customers. Because of the advertisement that Axel had set up before, people came to his store.
Some people were quite curious about this new evolution master. Others genuinely wanted to evolve.
But when Auric started treating the patients, they realized that he treated people better and faster.
Although they found it strange when Auric demanded to see their battle techniques while testing their energy, Auric solved their trouble in just a few minutes.
In fact, even when in his original store, Auric could easily take care of twenty customers in an hour. If not for the fact that he only had one evolution chamber, he could take on more customers.
Besides, it would be rude to the patients if he weren’t present during their evolution.
The fact that Auric treated them before their evolution meant a lot. After all, people would feel more assured before they began their evolution.
As a result, people started talking about it, and more people came to this place.
After lunch, the guest whom he had been waiting for arrived.
"Yo," Arnie raised his hand, greeting Auric. "Hello, esteemed master."
Auric nodded.
Arnie wasn’t too casual this time, knowing that Auric was trying to hide his identity. Besides, with his matter here, it was only natural for Auric to hide that identity.
Arnie took out an envelope and handed it to him.
Auric frowned and checked the letter.
"That’s the letter for the appointment. I will need to ask you to take care of their poison. Can you do it?"
"How many people?" Auric asked.
"43 people. We’re flying them in three batches. The second batch will come tomorrow, and the third batch will come the day after that. For the first batch, there are 15 people." Arnie pointed outside.
Auric nodded. "Sure. I can do that."
"If you still have customers, you can treat them first. These people are glad to be healed."
Auric frowned. "In that case, I can heal them first."
Arnie smiled. "No, no. You should take care of your customers first."
"I’m used to treating the poison. Fifteen people won’t even take twenty minutes."
"It will be rude to other customers. We don’t want that since I’m asking for the favor."
Auric stared at Arnie as though he noticed something was wrong with the appointment.
Arnie sighed and said, "Okay, let’s talk."
Auric brought him to the treatment room instead of the evolution chamber.
"So, what is it all about?" Auric asked.
Arnie shook his head helplessly. "We are trying to lure the people from that organization out. By splitting the patients into three batches, it will make them more noticeable."
"So, you want me to wait as long as possible so that they will have more time to be visible to anyone?"
"Yeah. That’s the plan. I will then capture their spies and try to get information from them." Arnie nodded.
Auric crossed his arms. "But that will make me a target as well, right? While it’s true that the Aheron family can protect me, they might be able to find my information."
"No. Your teacher agreed to this because everything had been secured. First, I would capture anyone spying around this store. Once you left the Aheron family and headed to the capital, the Relesha family would come to get you.
"You might not know this, but the Relesha family is quite good at this kind of thing. There won’t be anyone following you in the capital, so there should be no way for your information to be exposed."
"How about the airline? I’ve met Axel. It normally won’t raise a red flag, but once I’m being targeted, they will just check the airline to see who is the most suspicious person."
"Don’t worry about that. As I said, your teacher had arranged it. With the help of the Relesha family, officially, you’re not here right now."
"Pardon?" Auric frowned.
"You heard me. The Relesha family asked for permission to change the record. This way, no record of your traveling here exists. After one week, there will be a record of you flying from Thunderer City to the capital city."
Auric frowned. "It looks like you’ve prepared meticulously."
"I may have done a lot of things freely, but the Relesha family is one of the few I don’t want to upset."
"Why?" Auric raised his eyebrows. He was rather curious about the way Arnie looked at the Relesha family. He might know more about them, considering he stayed with them for two weeks.
Arnie whispered, "Don’t tell anyone about this, including your teacher. If I have to pick a word to describe the Relesha family, it’s ’madness.’ They are the type of people who act first and think about the consequences later. Touching them is like touching a honeybee nest."
"Honey bee? That’s oddly specific." Auric frowned.
"You know, Honeybees die after they sting. Even if they disappear after that, the Relesha family will not hesitate to do whatever they want. So, even if they get punished later, my neck will already have been slit by them." Arnie shrugged. "Anyway, I want you to help me with this arrangement. Will you do it?"
Auric narrowed his eyes. "Suppose I don’t want to go along with your arrangement?"
"Nothing. I’m requesting your help, not ordering you." Arnie shrugged. "If you don’t cooperate, I’ll find another way to handle it. However, just know that I might slow down considerably, even though I know you are the target."
Auric fell silent for a moment. "Okay, fine. I will help with this arrangement."
"As expected." Arnie smiled. "Anyway, that’s the plan. I’ll pretend that I’m waiting for the patients."
Auric nodded. "In that case, let’s get out. I need to start treating patients."
"Sure. By the way, be careful when you are at Kallarnos University."
"Those students will target me? I heard they’re pretty arrogant, so I expect it to a certain extent."
"I’m not talking about that. After looking into the beast wave, I learned that they’re quite obsessed with eliminating their targets. In this case, it’s you and your friends. So, think about it. What’s the easiest place to take care of you?"
Auric frowned. "Do you mean they will target me at Kallarnos University?"
"Most likely. Be wary of the students and teachers who approach you."
"Even the teachers?"
"Hey, they even have a judge on their payroll. What makes you think a teacher from Kallarnos University can’t be on their payroll?"
Auric raised his finger, but he couldn’t deny it. "Okay. I will be careful, but I’m afraid that it won’t be easy to figure out the situation over there."
"Do you think I don’t know? At Kallarnos University, the students are more competitive. They are either extremely talented or have a big enough background or both. You’re currently talented, but you don’t have a background. The Relesha family can protect you in the capital city, but not at the university. They can target you there.
"Also, I heard that your conflict with Simon Kestus, whom you killed, started from jealousy. I know jealousy is a bitch, but I guess your face is part of the reason."
Auric smiled wryly. "Well, I’m not going to deny the strong genes from my parents."
"But when they see you talented and good-looking, those arrogant little pricks will bully you through their backgrounds just to feel superior to you. I experienced such a thing when I studied at Kallarnos University, so you might want to think about it."
"You...?" Auric gasped.
"Why are you surprised?" Arnie harrumphed. "Do you know that when I was at Kallarnos, girls were around me all the time? Look at this."
Arnie showed a picture of a rather handsome young man. Even Arnie acknowledged that Auric surpassed him in that regard, but Auric understood why Arnie was popular.
"Well, my height is average. Understood? I am of average height at the time!" Arnie glared at him.
Auric smiled wryly. Arnie wasn’t even 170 cm tall, compared to Auric, who was 183 cm. But Arnie surely was around 168 or 169 cm. He styled his hair up so that he would reach 170 cm.
Auric smiled. "Height is just a number."
"Heh, you tall bastard." Arnie snorted. "Anyway, I have taken too much time here. Let’s get out, just remember my warning."
"Got it. I will be more careful." Auric knew that there might be more challengers, which would make it harder for him to discern their intentions. Some of them might be acting under the orders of the organization, or they might not even know they were manipulated by the organization to harm him.
It would be hard to see his surroundings, but Milinda, Arina, and Eric were easier targets. It looked like he would need to pay more attention to them.
Nonetheless, Arnie had left the room, so Auric exited right after. He started treating people, but Arnie might underestimate Auric a bit too much.
He didn’t expect Auric to finish his treatment that quickly. He expected they would have to wait for at least two hours.
Yet, Auric actually finished in one hour and started treating their poisons.
The people were happy that they could actually use their power again. Arnie, on the other hand, retreated and changed his plan slightly. In the end, he asked Auric to treat them slower the next day.
It was rather annoying since he usually finished everything quickly, but he still accommodated his request.
It looked like Arnie’s plan succeeded. On the third day, Arnie caught three people who were suspected to work with the organization.
In the meantime, Auric had gotten a rather weak but versatile dark element called the Fear element. It was a type of element that raised the darkness in one’s heart. It might be weak against people with courage, but this element could be used alongside a few other elements in his case. If he could obtain something like an illusion ability, applying fear would make the illusion feel more real.
That was why he picked this element over the others. At the same time, he also received a new light element, which would give enough energy to evolve.
The light element was called Mirage Light. It was a type of light that could easily be reflected, which would be quite tricky to use.
Auric only needed one more dark element so that he could evolve both the light and dark elements. Fortunately, he already had a solution.
Apparently, Axel had a friend who wanted to evolve. This friend’s element was called Withering Darkness. It actually had a 4.4 rating. As its name implied, the dark element possessed a very strong withering effect.
Auric definitely wanted it, but he had one problem.
According to Axel, this person wanted to evolve his avatar into its adult form, not its juvenile form.
In other words, he needed to be a silver-grade evolution master if he wanted to treat him.
