Chapter 528 - 507: Surrendering

Chapter 528 - 507: Surrendering

Chapter 528: Chapter 507: SurrenderingGao Yi’s plan was to wait to be apprehended by the Internal Guard Force stationed around Red Square.

It didn’t matter who arrived first. As long as someone came, the Glou couldn’t continue their attack. This location was too critical, too unique. If the Glou dared to fire at the Internal Guard Force, it would truly be considered armed rebellion.

Glakov taking private action was fine, and him faking military orders to settle personal scores worked too. However, whether it was Glakov or other Glou members, they ought to understand where the boundaries lay.

Three minutes wasn’t a long time, but holding out for three minutes inside this restaurant was definitely no easy task.

It could be described as seconds stretching into years.

Xinfeng understood Gao Yi. He understood Gao Yi’s mentality.

In fact, everyone now understood Gao Yi’s plan—it was simply to see whether Russia’s top brass would let Yuri go after Glakov was dead.

No matter who was deemed more important, the one who survived would certainly still be useful.

Xinfeng raised one hand and said to Gao Yi, "Start a fire! Set a fire!"

Gao Yi, holding a gun, looked at Xinfeng with astonishment.

Of all times, why was he thinking about starting a fire?

Even an arson maniac wouldn’t do this. You couldn’t just burn yourself alive. Even if escape seemed impossible, dying in flames inside this restaurant was hardly a solution.

Gao Yi didn’t want to entertain Xinfeng’s poor idea, but Xinfeng continued, "The Glou’s attack can’t be stopped. Get to the kitchen! Explosion! Fire!"

Gao Yi understood Xinfeng’s meaning now.

This restaurant was too large; a few people with handguns couldn’t block all the entrances and windows. Sith’s injury had already proven that the enemy had the capability to launch a strong assault at any time.

"Head to the kitchen!"

Gao Yi shouted.

Sith struggled to move on the ground. He had taken a bullet in his lower back, and when he turned, blood was visibly spilling from his abdomen.

No matter how skilled someone was, a shot in the main torso would instantly drain their strength. Sith firing back and holding on was already a testament to his iron will.

Just one problem—setting a large fire in the restaurant could indeed expedite the arrival of reinforcements, but how long could they survive in the blaze?

Dani began to retreat while crouching, and Gao Yi aimed his gun at the entrance. Dani deliberately took a detour during his withdrawal, dragging Sith along.

There was camaraderie among the Garden team after all.

Though they were competitors, it remained a relatively healthy internal conflict for now. No matter how sinister, cunning, or despicable Dani might be, he would still drag his injured comrade out during a retreat.

Lucy hadn’t taken cover; instead, she moved swiftly to a new position, then crouched on the ground.

More figures flashed by the window, tossing two hand grenades inside. However, when they raised their rifles and appeared at the window, they couldn’t instantly fire.

Gao Yi’s group could dodge, which was the most frustrating aspect for the attacking Glou units.

First, they had to

Yuri gestured with his head as Lucy took a deep breath. She suddenly got up and dashed toward the kitchen.

As soon as Lucy moved, someone appeared at the window and opened fire on her. Dani and Yuri immediately returned fire, forcing Lucy to dive mid-run, using the restaurant tables and chairs for cover.

Why did Gao Yi prefer engaging enemies in restaurants? Because the obstacles, indeed, were plentiful.

But at that moment, gunfire suddenly erupted outside the restaurant—it came from farther away, not from the Glou attackers.

Yuri grinned and shouted, "Reinforcements are here!"

His voice had barely faded when a car violently crashed through the restaurant’s entrance.

The wooden doors of the restaurant had two small windows. The building, constructed of red bricks with historical significance, was an old structure plagued by a common issue—a narrow doorway.

The bulletproof car smashed its way in, breaking the doors open without fully destroying the thick walls. Ultimately, the vehicle got stuck at the entrance.

A bulletproof car wasn’t an armored vehicle, but it was definitely impervious to handgun and rifle fire.

If the bulletproof vehicle had fully entered, Gao Yi’s team would have been done for. But its misstep left the passengers trapped inside, unable to open the doors.

This turn of events had an almost comedic touch.

Russian recklessness—typical Russian style.

Seeing they couldn’t break in conventionally, the Glou attackers determinedly decided to crash their way through. It was unclear whether they misjudged the door’s width, underestimated the robustness of the walls, or miscalculated the vehicle’s dimensions. Regardless, the car was immobilized, stuck like a sitting duck.

The front two doors couldn’t be opened, but the rear door could. However, after exiting, the attackers had to climb onto the roof to return fire.

And they did just that—a soldier wielding a rifle climbed onto the roof, stayed low, raised his weapon over his head, and blindly sprayed bullets into the restaurant.

The driver, trapped in the cockpit, couldn’t get out but could safely monitor the dining area through the thick windshield.

The driver pointed in a direction, and the roof shooter fired toward it.

A bizarre battle—more comical than threatening.

Xinfeng weakly muttered from the back, "Burn it. Burn the car..."

"For heaven’s sake, just shut up and rest!"

Burning the car could have worked as a solution, but it seemed unnecessary now.

One attacker climbed onto the roof, intending to leap into the restaurant. While one provided cover, others prepared to storm in. Once inside, any remaining resistance would be easily quashed. But just as the person stood upright, a string of bullets struck them from behind.

Gao Yi’s group hadn’t fired; it came from someone outside.

Soon, sirens sounded loudly alongside shouts and orders.

The Russians weren’t known for asking people to surrender. Any delay in raising hands often led to immediate execution.

The Glou attackers hadn’t revealed their identity, nor did the Internal Guard Force bother to ask.

Yuri shouted, "When you see soldiers in uniforms, drop your weapons and let me handle it!"

Gao Yi whispered, "Is escaping an option now?"

Yuri thought for a moment and then shook his head, saying, "No chance—we’re surrounded. Let me explain."

The Glou members were still trying to seize their final opportunity to attack, but the Internal Guard Force opened fire mercilessly.

Yuri placed his gun down, raised an identification card above his head, lifting it over the dining table.

Simultaneously, he waved a white napkin vigorously with his other hand.

Before anyone could enter the restaurant, Yuri was already signaling surrender—better to clarify than risk catching bullets before explaining themselves.

Finally, soldiers in military uniforms appeared near the restaurant’s window.

Yuri screamed hoarsely, "I’m a KGB agent! We were attacked! Don’t shoot!"

At that moment, mere words meant little. He only had time to declare his identity and pray not to be shot.

Some soldiers dealt with the blocked entrance, while others shattered the window panes, climbing inside with guns pointed forward, swiftly advancing toward Yuri.

One soldier ignored Yuri’s identification entirely and slammed the butt of his rifle into Yuri’s head.

With a thud, Yuri collapsed as a commanding officer barked, "Take him away."

Even waving IDs and white flags didn’t spare Yuri from a rifle butt. Gao Yi suddenly realized he might not escape the same fate.

Meanwhile, Lucy raised her hands high and shouted, "Help me! Save me!"

A soldier reached Lucy, merely sized her up, then gestured for her to stand while holding his gun. "You’re safe now. It’s alright. Stand up, raise your hands, and don’t be scared," he said.

Ah, preferential treatment for beauties.

Though Yuri remained conscious, he lay on the floor, allowing himself to be bound while shouting urgently, "They’re my protection targets inside! Don’t harm them! Take them away for questioning if needed, but don’t hurt them..."
